I recently traveled to Southeast Asia and went to Cambodia.

Contrary to the brilliant history of museums, reality is a mess.

Everywhere There are beggars begging on the streets, garbage is messed up and sucks smells

I was convinced when I saw modern and contemporary history. This was not a normal country history.

The architectural style of Cambodia is similar to that of Vietnam and Thailand, because it was invaded several times.

Cambodia was a French colony. Unusual is not the invasion of France.

The King of Cambodia wanted to enter the French protectorate to escape the Thai threat.

After two requests, it belonged to Indochina Federation(French colonies) in 1863.

Cambodia is an agricultural country with little underground resources so France has left Cambodia.

After World War II, Japan expanded its forces to Southeast Asia.

Japan is defeated, and Cambodia tries to be independent. Cambodia goes back to French territory.

It is called the Kingdom of Cambodia from 1953 to 1970.

King Sihanouk used secret police to purge the opposition.

It greatly backed democracy.

And than Cambodia sent a friendly gesture to the Soviet Union and the United States in neutral diplomat. 

But this made Cambodia an unreliable country.

Later Cambodia was friendly to China. And Supported North Vietnam.

So the US secretly bombs Cambodia.

In addition to that Purged opposition armed guerrilla warfare.

The country is in turmoil.

In 1970, Ron Knoll and the National Assembly defeated Sihanouk. while he is abroad.

Centered on military forces friendly to the United States is causing a coup.

Establish the Khmer regime.

Paul Port is head of a radical armed group called Kmerer Rouge. The group grew up in rural areas.

In 1975, the Khmer Rouge occupied Phnom Penh.

In 1976, the Government of the Democratic Republic of Kampuchea was established.

Cambodia has been devastated by the massive bombing of the US military and continued guerrilla bombing, and agricultural output has declined.

Paul Port attempts to break through this with a socialist agricultural group system based on Maoism.

Vietnam simply took over Cambodia and set up a Vietnamese puppet regime called the Kampuchea People's Republic.

Three million are reported to be slaughtered.

However, according to a survey by the Neutral Nations Investigation Committee and Harvard University at Yale University, we estimate at least 800,000 to a maximum of 1.5 million.

The United States and China will establish diplomatic relations. And naturally, the gaze goes to Vietnam.

China invades Vietnam for the liberation of Cambodia both inside and outside the country.

The United States supports the guerrilla warfare of Paul Fort and the Khmer Rouge in order to contain Vietnam.

On October 23, 1991, the Cambodia Peace and Paris Agreement was held to end the 20-year civil war.

but Paul Port still alive, The Khmer Rouge continues guerrilla warfare.

In 1998, Paul Fort died of a heart attack in the village

Khmer Rouge surrenders next year.

The civil war is officially over.

King Sihanouk again regained control.

Prime Minister Hun Sen of the People's Democratic Party of Cambodia, who was a leader of the Vietnamese puppet regime, is in power.
